Comanche Creek Hunt welcomes individuals who share our passion for hounds, horses, and the land we ride across.
Membership and subscriptions are extended to a dedicated and respectful group of participants, approved through a consensus of the Directors. While we aim to keep our community close-knit, we encourage interest and involvement from those who align with our values.

To ensure the sustainability of our hunt and hound care, accounts overdue by more than 60 days may result in a pause of riding privileges or event invitations. If you are experiencing financial hardship, we encourage you to reach out to a Director—support and understanding are always part of our ethos.

We value the input, time, and contributions of every member. While the Directors carry final responsibility for financial matters and decision-making, your voice and collaboration are essential to our collective success.

At Comanche Creek Hunt, we are deeply committed to fostering a vibrant and welcoming junior program that encourages young riders to stay engaged with hounds and hunting well into adulthood. Juniors are not just participants—they are the future of our sport—and should always be treated with respect, encouragement, and inclusion.

We proudly welcome youth riders from all backgrounds, including those involved in 4-H, Pony Club, and other horsemanship programs. All junior riders, like new adult members, will be accompanied by a responsible, experienced member until they are released by the Directors to ride independently. Juniors are encouraged to follow seasoned riders and to ask questions—learning is a key part of the journey.

As they grow in experience and confidence, qualified juniors may be offered opportunities to:

  • Hold staff positions in the field

  • Earn hunt buttons and, in time, be awarded their colors

Our goal is to provide every junior with mentorship, purpose, and pride in being an important part of Comanche Creek Hunt. Together, we’re building the next generation of riders who honor tradition and carry it forward with skill, sportsmanship, and heart.

Guests & New Riders - Click Here to Try It

As Comanche Creek Hunt is a private hunt, all guests must receive approval from the Directors at least 24 hours prior to the hunt. This ensures the safety of our riders, the welfare of our hounds, and the courtesy we owe to our generous landowners. All guest requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Foxhunting is not a beginner equestrian sport. To fully enjoy the experience and ensure safety in the field, guests must demonstrate competence at the walk, trot, and canter—outside the arena and in a group setting. Directors may require a preliminary ride to assess readiness before extending an invitation to hunt. This is for the safety of all involved, including horses, hounds, riders, and landowners.

Hound exercise is the exception. This is the ideal time for prospective members and new riders to get involved, become familiar with the hounds, and build proficiency in a low-pressure, educational setting. We encourage all interested riders—including those new to foxhunting—to join us during hound walks and mounted hound exercise.

New foxhunters and guests are welcome to ride in the tack and attire they and their horse are most comfortable in. Preference should be given to neutral or dark colors, with the goal of blending into the natural landscape.

Once an invitation to hunt is extended, it is the member’s responsibility to ensure their guest is properly mounted on a safe and capable horse or mule suited for our varied terrain. Our hunt country includes loose footing, creek crossings, deep ditches, and steep or uneven ground. Members must remain with their guest or any new foxhunter at all times in the field.

Guests from other hunts are always warmly welcomed and encouraged to wear their colors on formal days. We ask all members to extend hospitality to visiting riders: greet them with a smile, introduce yourself, and offer to let them ride up front so they can see the hounds work and enjoy the experience.
